The Metabolomix+ test evaluates the following:

Organic acids (urine)
Malabsorption and dysbiosis markers are metabolites produced by the gastrointestinal microbiome.
Cellular energy and mitochondrial markers are biomarkers of carbohydrate and fatty acid metabolism, and the citric acid (Kreb’s) cycle.
Vitamin markers are specific analytes used to assess functional levels of vitamin cofactors.
Neurotransmitter metabolites are downstream byproducts of epinephrine, norepinephrine, serotonin and dopamine.
Toxin and detoxification markers relate to certain toxic metabolites and the body’s detoxification capacity.
Oxalate markers relate to kidney stone formation, oxidative stress and metabolic dysfunction.

Amino acids (urine)
Essential amino acids must be derived from dietary sources.
Nonessential amino acids are synthesised by the body.
Intermediary metabolites are byproducts of amino acid metabolism.
Dietary peptide related markers can indicate incomplete protein breakdown.

Oxidative stress markers (urine)
Include the oxidative damage markers lipid peroxides and 8-OH.

Add-on essential and metabolic fatty acids (bloodspot)

Omega 3 fatty acids are essential for brain function and cardiovascular health and are anti-inflammatory.
Omega 6 fatty acids are involved in the balance of inflammation.
Omega 9 fatty acids are important for brain growth, nerve cell myelin, and reducing inflammation.
Saturated fatty acids are involved in lipoprotein metabolism and adipose tissue inflammation.
Monounsaturated fats include omega 7 fats and unhealthy trans fats.
Delta-6 desaturase activity assesses efficiency of this enzyme to metabolise omega 6s and omega 3s.
Cardiovascular risk includes specific ratios and the omega 3 index.

Add-on Nutrient and Toxic Elements (urine)

Assesses 20 toxic and 15 mineral elements.

Add-on SNPs – buccal swab

MTHFR, COMT, TNF-a, and APOE.

The Metabolomix + test requires a simple urine sample.

If the genetic add ons are requested, a buccal swab is also required. All samples for Genetic testing are completely destroyed after 1 month.

If the essential fatty acids are requested, a finger prick blood test is also needed.

2 days before you collect your samples for your Metabolomix+ Test.

Discontinue all of the following unless you are monitoring your supplements and diet with your practitioner:

Supplements containing creatine, vitamin C or any other mineral elements that are being analysed by this test.
Any other substances that may influence urinary element excretion of elements.
Seafood.

You must continue with the above food and supplement restrictions until all your samples are collected.

Consult your GP or practitioner before stopping and prescribed medication.

The day before your Metabolomix+ Test

Eat your usual diet, but do not over-consume any single food or adhere to an extreme diet.

Fluid intake should be limited to 2 litres of fluid over the preceding 24 hour period.

The Metabolmix+ Test is suitable for adults.

The Metabolomix+ Test is suitable for children that are 2 years and above.

Please return your Metabolomix+ Test via a next day service Monday – Thursday only.

A courier option is sent with your test kit. You pay the laboratory directly for this test and also the return courier if you use the service.
You can also make your own arrangements for returning your samples via a next day service.

Your results for the Metabolomix+ Test will be ready in 23 working days.
